Policies & Procedures

Cancellation, Missed Appointment and Rescheduling Policy

Client will be charged a $35 fee for any no-show, late cancellation, or rescheduling made less than 24-hours before a scheduled appointment.  Please text or call to cancel an appointment: 720-837-3072.

Late Arrivals

Appointment times are as scheduled and cannot extend beyond the stated time to accommodate late arrivals. Please be on time to your appointment.

Pre-session Reminders

Before you arrive, please note the following:

  • Payment is collected before treatment begins: Venmo, PayPal, HSA, Zelle & all credit cards accepted.
  • Avoid heavy scents: Please avoid wearing heavy perfumes, cologne, or aftershave, as strong scents can be overwhelming for both your therapist and others.
  • Avoid Pain Medications: Avoid taking pain medications or muscle relaxers before your appointment, as these can affect your sensitivity to pain and increase the risk of overworking your muscles.
  • Wear Comfortable Clothing:  Please wear workout clothes or loose-fitting clothing, as some treatments are done while you are clothed. This will also allow you to move around easily for assessment purposes and to perform exercises or stretches.

Massage FAQs

Do you use tools during massage?

Sometimes! Not every client wants or needs tools during their session. When I think a tool might enhance your treatment, I’ll explain why and check in with you first—we’ll always decide together before moving forward. Here are some of the tools I may use:

  • T-bars: These are hand-held wooden tools with soft rubber tips. They help reach deeper areas, like between the ribs, without causing pain. Most clients find them gentle and effective.
  • Silicone cupping: These cups create gentle suction (positive pressure), helping to lift and release tissue rather than compress it. The cups can be left in place, but generally, I glide them along the body. The goal is not to leave marks, though mild red circles can sometimes appear. These usually fade within a few hours to a couple of days.
  • Hot stones: Smooth, warm stones are used to relax muscles and prepare the body for deeper work. I always check the temperature with you to ensure it feels just right.

No matter the tool, communication is key. Your comfort and consent are always the priority.

Can massage help with pain or injury?

Yes. Massage can support recovery, ease chronic pain, and improve mobility & circulation. I highly recommend augmenting massage treatments with visits to your physical therapist or other wellness specialists.  If you need a recommendation, I'm happy to refer you to local practitioners. Let me know what you’re experiencing so I can tailor the session to your needs.

What should I expect at my first massage session?

Your first session begins with a brief conversation about your goals, health history, and any areas of tension or discomfort. We'll also discuss whether the session will be done clothed or if undressing (to your comfort level) is recommended for the most effective work. I’ll then step out to give you privacy to get settled, and I’ll knock before re-entering the room. Throughout the session, I’ll check in with you on temperature, face cradle comfort, bolster placement, and even the music—your comfort is a priority from start to finish.

After the massage, I’ll step out again so you have a few minutes to regroup and get dressed. When you’re ready, just open the door and we’ll complete a short post-session assessment. This may include guided movement, stretching, or self-massage techniques you can use at home. If helpful, we can record a quick video or take photos to support your self-care between sessions.

What if I don't want to get undressed?

Getting undressed is always optional.  I recommend that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing such as workout clothes or comfortable shorts.  Many treatments can be performed effectively while you are clothed. This will also allow you to move around easily for assessment purposes and to perform exercises or stretches.  If I need to access the skin for a treatment, I will always ask and draping is always used to cover the body.

Will it hurt?

Some techniques may feel intense, especially on tight areas, but you’re encouraged to speak up at any time so we can adjust the pressure.  I am always watching how you breath and look for non-verbal clues like holding your breath, tensing up, cold sweats, or wincing. I use all these signals to gauge whether we can work deeper or not. If you want more pressure or less pressure, please let me know.  And if you don't like the technique or the methods I'm using, please don't hesitate to say something.  Quite often, clients will say, "it's intense but in a good way" or "it's intense but please continue because it feels effective".  The goal is not to cause you pain.  The goal is therapeutic change that you can tolerate and still breathe through.

Can I talk during the massage?

It’s totally up to you. Some clients enjoy talking during their massage, while others prefer a quiet, meditative experience. Your comfort is always respected, and you're welcome to choose the level of conversation that feels right for you.

That said, even in quiet sessions, I need to check in occasionally to adjust pressure, confirm comfort, or guide you through specific movements and breathing patterns. I may also ask you to engage certain muscles or shift your position to assess how you're feeling.

Clear, respectful communication helps create the most effective and personalized bodywork possible.

What if I feel self-conscious about my body?

Massage is for every body. You’ll be treated with care, respect, and professionalism at all times. Your comfort is the top priority.  Undressing is absolutely not required, but please wear comfortable, un-restrictive clothing.  It can be very difficult to work around zippers, buttons, and multiple layers of clothing.

How should I prepare for my massage?

Hydrate well before and after, avoid large meals right before your session, and wear comfortable clothes. No need to bring anything special.  If you have self-massage tools at home, feel free to bring them to the session and I'd be happy to show you how to use them effectively.

What if I fall asleep during the massage?

That’s completely normal and a sign that your body is relaxing. Many clients drift off—and that’s okay!  Snoring is a compliment for me!

How often should I get a massage?

It depends on your goals. Some people benefit from weekly sessions, others from monthly. If you are preparing for a sports event, we need to carefully plan sessions during a time when you can recover.  Deep tissue massage is not recommended within 24 hours of competition.  I can help you create a plan that works for your body and your schedule.

Do you accept tips?

I do not accept tips because tipping is not customary for healthcare services. Instead of tipping, consider booking future session(s), refer friends, or leave a Google review if you enjoyed your experience.  Just to be clear, my policy of tipping does not apply to all massage therapists.  So if you see another massage therapist, check with them on their tipping guidance.  Read my blogpost on this topic: Gratuity Guidance: Should You Tip Your Massage Therapist?

What is a Botree?

The story of Buddha & the Bodhi Tree

The story of the Bodhi Tree or Bo Tree is deeply rooted in Buddhism and is associated with the enlightenment of Siddhartha Gautama, who later became known as the Buddha. According to legend, Siddhartha Gautama was a prince who renounced his luxurious life in search of spiritual awakening and the end of suffering.

For 49 days, Siddhartha sat under a fig tree, known as the Bodhi tree, in Bodh Gaya, India. He made a vow not to rise until he attained enlightenment. Finally, on a full moon night, Siddhartha entered a profound state of meditation and achieved enlightenment. He gained insight into the nature of existence, the causes of human suffering, and the path to liberation from suffering.

The Bodhi tree, under which Buddha attained enlightenment, holds immense significance for Buddhists worldwide. It symbolizes wisdom, enlightenment, and the potential for all beings to awaken to their true nature. Today, a descendant of the original Bodhi tree still stands in Bodh Gaya, and it remains a sacred site for Buddhists to visit and meditate.
