Deep tissue work at Botree Movement & Massage is more than just deep pressure. My technique is very specific and requires deep palpation skills. Sometimes tension feels like a rope or wire under the skin often no bigger than a dime. Once I find the area, I use T-bar tools to apply the appropriate pressure which is ONLY effective because we're targeting a VERY SPECIFIC "knot". If I just steamrolled an entire area, we would never actually treat the specific area. For areas of the body that need a more gentle approach, I use positional release techniques such as SMRT and osteopathic work.
Sometimes stretching and exercise just cannot release chronic pain, tension, and adhesions in the muscles. If you have been sedentary for while or can't get over a nagging injury, it's TIME to get some deep tissue work with me!
Here's some examples of conditions that I've with my style of deep tissue work:
These are just a few examples of the conditions that respond well to deep tissue work. We work up to YOUR tolerance for discomfort and often times clients will say, "it hurts so good"! I do not believe that massage has to be pain free. Sometimes, our bodies need a little extra help when stretching just doesn't work anymore!
It's important to communicate with your massage therapist during a deep tissue massage session. Let them know if the pressure is too intense or if you experience any discomfort. It's normal to feel some soreness and fatigue the day after a deep tissue massage, but this should subside within a day or two.
